I was in absolute awe standing on this cliff far above the Pacific Ocean, above the fog/marine layer and below the clouds. This sure was a sight to see. I didn't think it would photograph anywhere near as well as the view was in person, but I'm very pleased with how this image turned out. I wish you all could have seen it in person too.
Big Sur is a sparsely populated region of the Central Coast of California where the Santa Lucia Mountains rise abruptly from the Pacific Ocean. The name "Big Sur" is derived from the original Spanish-language "el sur grande", meaning "the big south", or from "el pa�s grande del sur", "the big country of the south", referring to its location south of the Monterey Peninsula.
