About Heidi Smith

I have a long-standing interest in photography. I had my first camera since before my teens. I used a (Minolta) film camera up until about 8 years ago when my camera failed to function while on a trip to Yellowstone National Park. Although a little intimidated, I then ventured into the world of digital photography and I've never looked back. My passion is nature. I started out primarily photographing flowers, plants, and critters that I would find in my garden. I love gardening and the great outdoors. I am always planning my next adventure, and I'll always have my camera in hand. I'm already thinking ahead to my next trip/adventure. I'm not sure yet where it will take me, but I'll keep you posted.

I love capturing all kinds of nature, including animals, insects, flowers, landscapes, and seacapes. Thank you for being patient with me as I continually create galleries and add images. I truly appreciate your time and interest in my work.

If you have any questions at all regarding my work or special requests, please feel free to email me. There's an email link above.

"The creative act lasts but a brief moment, a lightning of give-and-take, just long enough for you to level the camera and to trap the fleeting prey in your little box." - Henri Cartier Bresson

"Photography, in some ways, is a back-up plan. It is my only insurance against an aging mind. When my mind grows old and fails to remember the times I have lived and the things I have seen, I can always look at the pictures I’ve taken and remember. I guess what I'm trying to say is that photography makes it impossible for me to forget, and that’s why I love it." - Jerry Lee Pereida
